High-wire act

Late last week and today, there's been a buzz of a helicopter nearby for long stretches a time. There's an airport near my house, but this was more hovering than passing over. Friday, I saw the helicopter making a low pass over the powerlines nearby then disappearing. Today, I figured out what they were doing:

Aerial powerline repair

Yikes. Would you rather be the guy almost touching very high-voltage powerlines while hanging off the side of a helicopter or the pilot that has to keep the thing steady as rock (which this guy did for 10 minutes at a time)? Either way, a scary way to maintain the power that keeps our lights on and networks running!
