Fortinet has a long way to go with its MSSP offering

No news in the fact that a former Fortinet exec uses Fortinet solutions. However, interesting to note Fortinet has very few MSSP related wins (due to their relative shortcomings in their central management software). This new start-up is also a way to gain some experience in that space...

It is my understanding that Fortinet's biggest channel is the MSSP. Perimeter eSecurity uses Fortinet gear as does Megapath. Tata Communications just announced a managed security service including Fortinet gear as well as others.

Most of these MSSP's have used the Fortigate's excellent remote management capability to write their own automated solutions for management.

It always seems laughable that non-entrenched security vendors are criticized for the lack of maturity of their central management consoles while the dinosaur of the industry, Cisco, has yet to produce an effective management solution for their routers let alone their ASA or Pix platforms!
